It's My Heart - Fresno Chapter

Hello,

I am writing here to announce a new charitable organization that has just started in Fresno. I am excited to announce It's My Heart Fresno Chapter!

It's My Heart is a non-profit organization that supports families of children with Congenital Heart Defects (CHD), the most common birth defect in the U.S.

CHD is the number one cause of death from birth defects during the first year of life. At least 8 of every 1000 infants born each year have a heart defect. Nearly twice as many die from congenital heart disease in the U.S. each year as die from all forms of childhood cancers combined.

We are a non-profit organization that is for anyone seeking support and information on Congenital Heart Defects.
The groups goal is to provide non-medical support to patients and their families while educating the community nationwide. It's My Heart's mission is to provide support, spread awareness, educate and advocate for those affected by Congenital Heart Defects by creating alliances with fellow families, hospitals, support groups, and the community.

I got involved soon after my 3 month old son came home to recover from his open heart surgery in May of this year. He was born with Atrioventricular Septal Defect (AVSD) and had his surgery at Children's Hospital Central California. I was amazed to find out how many families are affected by CHD. I found It's My Heart through a friend I met online through CarePages, a web site that allows families coping with illness to keep in touch with family and friends as well as meet others going through similar situations.

My son has made a wonderful recovery thus far and it continually amazes me how strong children are compared to adults. He is my inspiration for bringing It's My Heart to the Fresno community.

Sincerely,
Pamela Camit
